Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Course
Did You Know?
Cardiac Arrest is the biggest killer in this country. Over 150,000 die as a result. The majority could have been saved if a defibrillator was made available. Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s) are now becoming more common throughout a range of workplaces. The scientific evidence to support early defibrillation is overwhelming, the single most determinant of survival being the delay from collapse to delivery of the first shock. The chances of successful defibrillation decline at a rate of 7-10% with each minute. Basic life support may help to sustain a shockable rhythm but is not a definitive.
This is a short course aimed at people who have already been awarded a First Aid qualification and just want to upskill in the safe use of an Automated External Defibrillation (AED). Some necessary theory, backed up with practical sessions. It gives students the skills, knowledge and experience to safely use an A.E.D and also enhances their confidence of basic CPR skills. .
